1668- John Atkins was founded in Lettergorman

1684- Dermot An Duna recovered part of the McCarthy Estate

1692- McCarthys were ''out'' for King James and lost everything

1733- Chancellor Cox died and was succeeded by his grandson

1743- The opening of a charter school in Dunmanway

1790- A Methodist Church was built

1800- J.Atkins established a Tannery in River Lane

1801- Saw Mills in John Atkins were set up

1818- Fr.Doheny was appointed to the Parish of Dunmanway
1819- Fr.Doheny built the Church in Ballincarriga
1821- St Mary's Church was constructed
1829- Catholic Emancipation
1830- Dunmanway Castle was dismantled
1831- A Porter and Ale Brewery was established
1834- St.Patrick's Church was built
1839- The Dunmanway Workhouse was built
1846/7- The Famine
1848- The Model School was founded
1858- Post wall boxes were introdcued
1866- Fr.Doheny died
1866- First train ran from Bandon to Dunmanway
